We
arrived at the AKA Bar located at West Central
street to check out Codex a collision of dirty,
sexy, deep, electronic sounds. On entering the
bar through two huge glass doors we were
warmly met by the staff and security who were
eager to help us with our questions on weather
the DJ's had arrived yet as we had arrived early.
The AKA Bar is very stylish with a high ceiling
and a long bar that stretched from the entrance
to the back of the bar where you
will find a seating area to chill out.
The DJ Box is located to the left as you enter
the bar and very cool artwork decorates
the walls, all in all I have to say The AKA bar
is a very cool bar.
We must have arrived at about 9.15pm so most
of the crowd were still making their way down
along with the main DJ's. Tonight's line up of
DJ's were Nico De
Ceglia (Presslab) - Freddie Barbie - Stef Kremo
and guest Claudio Basile (Screen Rec.) along with
Julius R who was warming up the
night. All of tonight's DJ's are from Italy but
are based in the UK and on meeting all the DJ's
through out the night I have
to say what a really great group of DJ's very
nice people indeed.
The first DJ on the decks was DJ Julius R who
must have dropped his first record at about 9.45pm
I did notice that he was behind the decks when
we first entered the bar so it showed how eager
he was to
start of the night. He choose a nice section of
house music slowly building up the tempo, and
I noticed that the bar was filling by the minute
with a trendy chic young cosmopolitan crowd who
were easy to chat to,
all of whom were just out to dance the night away.

Next up was Freddie Barbie the only women
DJ in the group who choose to mix up her section
with some excellent classics and by now people
were letting loose on the dance floor.
Before I knew what happened the bar was packed
out, which really surprised me, I
never expected just a cool gathering of people,
Why? Because this was a Wednesday
night but it seemed like a Saturday night out,
it just goes to show what a following Codex
has and rightly so, the music been played has
made Codex what it is a collision of dirty,
sexy, deep, electronic sounds that's Codex.
Half way through Freddie Barbie's set I also realized
that because this group of DJ's were all very
close friends it showed in the way the music was
building up, that's another reason why Codex is
special,
each DJ plays off each other. Before Stef Kremo
stepped up I decided to have a chat with him,
and ask him what he would be playing tonight and
he said he would be dropping a few soul tunes
here and there.
My reply was "why" and Stef Kremo answered in
a nice manner " because I want to" and he was
totally right, he was reading the crowd. That's
a DJ with the music in his blood and you can see
it in his eyes
he has got the eye off the tiger (meaning he is
hungry to geton the decks and do the business,
a saying taken from the Rocky film).
When he stepped up on the decks he did what he
said and dropped a few soul tunes here
and there and the crowd loved it big time, so
making his set more diverse then the rest,
well done your judgment paid off.

By the
time the guest DJ Claudio Basile (Screen Rec.)
come on the decks the whole place was buzzing
so he had a job on to keep the place buzzing.
Did he manage to keep the place buzzing? Well
let me tell you when he got on it was buzzing
then like a bang the whole place was rocking his
section was a bit more up tempo and harder just
what the crowd wanted at that time. In between
Claudio basile's set Nico De Ceglia (Presslab)
graced the decks and gave us an excellent section
of Electronic music, which the crowd lapped up.
I would have loved to hear him play a longer set
but he was tired up with the fact that he was
giving interviews for a Italian TV company called
Enjoy television
(www.enjoytelevision.com)
to be shown in the near future so if your in Italy
watch out for the show, and yes he rocked the
house down!

As a
looked round the AKA bar I realized that Codex
had managed to create a lovely party
atmosphere and they had done this on a Wednesday
night, Wow!
DJ Claudio Basile (Screen Rec.) come back on the
decks to keep the music flowing and finish
off the night, and what a night it was pure class
from start to finish. Respect to all the DJ's
that makes Codex a event to watch out for, really
watch out for the next parties if you
want that party atmosphere but on a Wednesday
night, then keep your eyes & ears
open this is one party not to be missed.
Before I sign off a big thanks to Codex for been
such perfect hosts and for the Aka Bar for been
such a cool venue and I nearly forgot to mention
the sound system which was crystal clear but banging!
Yes this was one of the best Wednesday nights
outs, made so by all the supper cool people I
met through out the night it was for sure a perfect
night out, that's Codex a collision of dirty,
sexy, deep, electronic sounds.
