We arrived at Ministry of
Sound for Defected in The House once a month Party
and joined the
guest list queue which is always packed, as this
night is so huge. As always just as we all joined
the
queue it started to rain, did the staff hear all
the moans in the queue? Well the staff acted promptly
and started handing out umbrellas so as not to
let the rain dampen our sprits, I have to say,
how thoughtful
of them to do so - well done guys, there is nothing
worse than being stuck in a queue getting wet!
Once the umbrellas were handed out the moans did
stop so our group got chatting to 2 brothers from
South Africa who were here on a working holiday
and decided to check out Defected In The House.
It’s always nice to meet sensible people to chat
too, to help the time pass as you are waiting
eagerly
to enter the club. (Yes your picture is up on
the www of you holding the stylish umbrella,
take it easy don’t be working too hard guys).
Once you get pass
the security, who were all cool, you enter a long
corridor, at one end where you pay, and the
other end being the cloakroom. As we opened two
large doors to enter the middle room we were met
by The Defected Team, who were offering you the
chance to get your hands on a free CD,
which most people took up the offer and why not
get your hands on a free CD, its always nice
to get something for free, nice touch!

The
Middle room was already in full flow and completely
full with people getting on down to the duo of
Copyright Gavin Face Mills & Sam Holt. For
me these guys were THE TOPS, their music
was just how
I like it - pure house music at it's best, how
cool would it be if I could have their record
box in my room? Dream on.
Of course I had
to get over to the DJ Box and give credit where
its due and more surprising was the fact as to
how laid back these guys were, considering their
status among the house music scene.
In fact all the DJ's we met throughout the
night were all laid back and easy to talk to with
no ego’s
for real, I was taken aback as to how cool they
all were, RESPECT!
It was good to see
a mixture of people from all nations under one
roof, really we were meeting people from Holland,
Belgium, Sweden and so on, and before you jump
the gun and say "it’s a tourist hang out, come
on these people are all house music lovers" - This
is not a Club that plays mainstream music that
you find on TV, tonight its been graced by the
true Sounds of The Underground - check out the
name
Defected In The House... are you
getting what I’m saying?
Hey it was really
nice to see a good mixture of nice people dancing
the night away under one house,
that’s house music smiley faced people united
under one roof Defected In The House!
Some people have
said to me they expected more from Ministry in
the décor but let’s not forget its not some tarted
up club and does not want to be. Lets not forget
back in the day warehouse music first erupted
in illegal Warehouse parties and that’s what Ministry
are keeping that Warehouse feeling but with
a bit more class and the added fact that you are
in a safe environment. Since it’s had a refurbishment
it has got that minimal effect that oozes class,
the guys that re-designed this club sure knew
what they were doing, they were recapturing that
Warehouse feeling? That’s house music! I never
expected to like the layout of the club as much
as I did; well done designers you have created
something beautiful,
it would be my perfect house.
In the middle room
UV lights flicked with bursts of smoke and the
Defected banners hanged from
the towering ceiling, all added to making the
perfect atmosphere the night had truly started
off with a bang, could it get any better than
this?

The long bar which stretched
from one end of the room to the other made sure
that you could get your hands on a drink really
quick and most of the bar staff were giving the
punters big smiles which was nice to see. The
bar price’s were cheap, £16 for 4 drinks, you
don’t have to be good at maths to work it out.
We were ordering 3 spirits with mixers and 1 Bacardi
breezer so it was cheap for being in London’s
Super club, well all our party were pleased. .
Above the middle room is a long balcony, which
runs the whole length of the room and access can
be gained by stairs at both ends.
The main room was still closed so we decided to
check out what the VIP area had to offer,
which is located at one end of the balcony through
glass doors.
Wow! Yes this was for sure the VIP area, very
elegant and spacious with beautiful comfortable
sofas,
and a nice small bar. To the left of the room
are draped velvet curtains which made up
cubicles,
this made a different kind of décor, it was
nice to be able to chill out in such a cool setting.
It was so cool the girls in our party just wanted
to keep returning to soak up the setting the
VIP area created.
By now the main room was opened and who knows
what the time was we were all having
such a great time, had time stopped? It seemed
like that.

On entering the main room, which was dimly lit
you just knew you were in a Warehouse, it’s a
huge room with towering ceiling UV lighting flashing
away and that banging sound we call house.
In the middle of
the room you will find podiums that were packed
with people dancing on, the whole room was crowded
but in a nice way, you did have enough room to
express yourself on the dance floor and people
were really going for it, what a great atmosphere!
We decided to head
up to The DJ Box to get some pictures of the crowd
and so the girls could get a few photos of the
DJ’s. It was cool of them to take the time to
chat with the girls who were thrilled to meet
some high profile DJ’s - thanks guys for being
cool, nice one!
Hardsoul Soulfurics
premier DJ’s all the way from Rotterdam supplied the music at the time
and of course it was just more excellent house
music as I expected from these Guys. On looking
down from the DJ Box the atmosphere was electric,
the crowd were really showing their appreciation
every time a new tune was dropped. In fact I have
to give a big shout to all the DJ’s like Brian
Tappert and John Julius Knight,
Warren Clarke - these guys know what its
all about.
Defected In The
House line up for tonight, as always was spot
on; the whole house truly was rocking all night.
So much so that one of our party, Kirsty danced
so hard that her poor feet were hurting,
hey girl your in London now with proper people who put
on proper parties Defected
In The House!
We
will let you off this time as we escorted her
to the VIP area so as to let her feet cool
down,
it’s the truth the girl just could not keep up
with the pace or did she just want to soak up
some more of that VIP area I wonder?
All in all it was
a tremendous night out, so much so that this is
another night that I would
recommend to people who love their house music,
trust me go there with the right attitude and
you will for sure have a good one.
It was good to meet
friendly people so well done to the crowd who
have to be given credit for
without them it would be just pointless, they
play just as big a part as the DJ’s.
Thanks for bringing back a smile to my face, it
was much needed as all work and no play
is not the right balance, but right now I am being
overworked... that’s life!
Before I sign off
I would like to say thanks to Toni Tambourine
for sorting us out and to let you
know I will be getting on your case. I would like
to return again to see if you guys are
consistent in throwing good parties? I am Joking,
I know you Guys are proper,
the name says it all........
