PRESS: Danny Krivit and Dimitri from Paris
land at Ministry of Sound for one night
only! The legendary Body and Soul resident,
absent from the UK since time began, goes
up against the disco maestro himself, Mr
DFP. One of the most exciting nights we've
done to date .
Danny joined the Body & Soul team in 1996
and, with colleagues Francois K and Joe
Claussell,
has played there every Sunday, dropping
soul and disco classics with upfront house
cuts and fusing it all into one wicked groove.
Body & Soul has now become a beloved, diverse,
and low-key phenomenon for New York City
clubbers but it''s reputation has spread
further a field, to the point where they
have hosted special events in London for
'Angels of Love' and Giorgio Armani.
His appearance at Ministry is a Big Event
- Danny never (but never) appears in the
UK,
and we're very, very excited!
Dimitri from Paris, our unofficial French
Ambassador to house, is a worthy contemporary
to the illustrious Mr Krivit. Besides sharing
Danny's love of 70s funk and disco, Dimitri
is particularly fond of film soundtracks
from the '50s and '60s. Teaming these sounds
with the electro and block party hip-hop
he discovered in the '80s, he cuts an eclectic
figure and is generally considered, with
Laurent Garnier and Eric Rug, to be one
of France's finest house DJ's.
Dimitri's 1996 release 'Sacrebleu' sold
several hundred thousand copies and earned
him worldwide acclaim. Having released a
highly praised string of compilations including
the best selling 'Dimitri from Paris In
the House' collection which sold over 70,000
copies. He has also remixed for the likes
of Bjork, Brand New Heavies and New Order,
he continues to be an international trendsetter
of the highest order. Now established as
the king of innovative, ultra-trendy lounge
grooves, Dimitri will be sure to bring a
little je ne sais quoi to the Ministry floor!
In the Bar, we have Copyright - the original
deal! Signed to Soulfuric for the last 4
years, this UK based production outfit have
been carving out a solid reputation as one
of the most up and coming production teams
on the soulful house music scene. Watch
out for these guys - they are definitely
ones to watch this year as tipped by i-DJ
magazine.
Paul Farris is another DJ veteran with more
than 15 years experience and residencies
at
Ministry of Sound, Kindergarten Klub and
The Mezzanine under his belt. Founder and
manager of Soho's renown Uptown Records
store, Paul's tastes range right the way
across the musical spectrum and he can play
anything from lush Sunday afternoon sets
to banging peak-time Friday nighters. Paul's
talents have earned him a loyal following
over the years. A set from Paul will typically
encompass the most upfront soulful tunes
combined with essential house classics.
He has attracted a large and loyal following
and the MOS bar will be the perfect
setting for him to entertain the faithful.
If you ever wondered who was at the top
of the pile at Defected then look no further.
Head honcho Simon Dunmore is the man responsible
for the tunes you hear from the label all
year round. Besides being one of the industries
most respected A&R's, Simon is also an accomplished
DJ - if in doubt then look no further than
his Eivissa'04 mix released earlier this
year, and he will start off your evening
with skills honed from many, many years
playing on the scene.
And don’t forget! The pre-party will be
held at Clapham’s lush, sophisticated Whitehouse
Bar. Reduced entry price with a flyer…
There you have it folks, see you down the
front!
Much love from all the Defected Crew.
