Diggin' Deeper @ Nicol Edwads Saturday 3rd April 04
Diggin' Deeper @ Nicol Edwads, 29-35 Niddry Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1LG
Saturday 3rd April 2004 10pm - 3am £5/£4 members
Web site: www.DeepDig.com
NEXT DATE: Saturday 5th June - Diggin' Deeper's 1st Birthday Party.
Special Guests, Birthday Cake, Presents and much, much more for everyone.
Diggin' Deeper returns for another night of eclectic clubbing and entertainment diversity on Saturday 3rd April and yet again features the best DJ's, LIVE acts,
movies and freebies that Edinburgh has to offer.

The LIVE performances will feature some hard living, smokin' and JD drinking 6 string action with sets from two of the cities hottest new live acts. GasGiant and The Virgin Teeth believe in
a thing called Rock, you will too.

The DeepDig Allstars DJ tag team of Euan Robertson, Mark Balneaves, Donald Macarthur & Gavin Fort will bring you dancefloor mayhem with sets containing everything from Classic Soul & Funk, Reggae, Rock, Hip-Hop, to the Freshest Funk-Fuelled Dance Beats. Live Percussion will be provided by Drummer Drew.

We know it all gets too much sometimes and breaks from the dancefloor are necessary so again we have asked Dr Awkward to take care of the Chill-Out Cinema and select only the choicest
movie cuts and short film premiers which will be re-dubbed live with mellow grooves.

You may also catch Dr Awkward and The Laboratory Mouse providing some rock n roll turntable action (60's psychedelica and Garage to 04's freshest tunes) to keep you entertained
between our two guests acts.

Also, the Lounge Bar will be soundtracked with the coolest 50s and 60s swing, big-band
and Rat-Pack tunes - "proper music" as your granny might say.

Check out
www.DeepDig.com for membership information and to
find out more about the DeepDig organisation and Diggin' Deeper.

DeepDig is a non-profit making collective dedicated to unearthing the freshest artistic talent and providing a showcase for their work via our web-site and club-night. Therefore we ask that if you are an artist interested in exhibiting your work (music, film, photography, written, etc) or know someone who is, that you log onto www.deepdig.com and start sharing, exploring
and developing what the site has to offer.

DEEP DIG PRESS
www.deepdig.com provides an online gallery for unsigned artists, regardless of media, and operates on a non-profit making basis with no charge being made for artists to exhibit their work on the site or for people to view it.

After a lot of development work, the site is now complete and the search for contributors has commenced. Artists involved in all media are invited to submit work to the site for exhibition, although it must be remembered that as it is a web-based gallery the work must be able to be transmitted electronically. The main types of work that the deepdig collective envisage exhibiting on the site include music (all genres: from traditional to rock to techno and beyond), animation, film, photography, poetry, short stories, journalism and reviews. More traditional art forms such as paintings, sculpture, etc can also be exhibited by submitting a digital photograph of the work.

It is also envisaged that, via our DeepDig Forum, the site will become a resource centre to enable the sharing of ideas and assist those looking for someone to work with on a project find
the talent that they need.

Showcasing the Artists

The DeepDig collective have funded the development of the site by running a club night, Diggin' Deeper at Nicol Edwards, Niddry Street, Edinburgh since May 2003. Initially these nights were DJ led and featured the Diggin' Deeper residents (Euan Robertson, Mark Balneaves , Gavin Fort & Donald Mcarthur) spinning everything from classic soul & reggae, to hip-hop,
breaks and the freshest funk-fuelled dance beats.

However, since the launch of the web-site late in 2003, the ultimate aim of the DeepDig collective as started to come to fruition as the club night develops further into a showcase for the
best artists who submit their work to www.deepdig.com

While Diggin' Deeper undoubtedly has a musical focus, it is intended that club nights will feature performances form artists of all genre who have submitted work to www.deepdig.com. We will show the best short films that are submitted to the site in our very own cinema, showcase the freshest photography talent and provide a platform for spoken word performances
from writers and poets.

Over the last three Diggin Deeper nights we have featured guest performances from: q D.o.P.E - 5 piece Edinburgh based Hip-Hop band q Robbie Dunsmore - Live electronica from Dingwall solo artist q DJ Default and MC Solaraye Samurai - Hip-Hop Duo q Dr Awkward - Local Edinburgh film-maker q MetaLinear - Live poetry performance q Chris the Beatbox Kid - Edinburgh Beatbox talent

Future Nights and guest artists confirmed to date are as follows:
Saturday 3rd April: The Virgin Teeth - Edinburgh Rock Trio GasGiant - Calling it 'Guitar Music' doesn't do it justice Film Festival - A collection of short films from local film-makers.
Curated by Dr Awkward.

Saturday 5th June: 1st Birthday Party Weedj's - LIVE set of electronica from remixers of
Two Lone Swordsmen Robbie Dunsmore - Robbie returns with his latest electronic offerings

All nights will also feature the Diggin' Deeper Resident DJs.

Help Required

Despite all the hard work that the DeepDig collective have put into developing the site, we alone cannot make it a success and while we have plans for a significant publicity campaign in the
first half of 2004, we still need all the help we can get.

Remember, DeepDig is a non-profit making collective dedicated to unearthing the freshest artistic talent and providing a showcase for their work via our web-site and club-night. We do not want to or intend on making a profit from this venture.

Therefore we ask that if you are an artist interested in exhibiting your work, or know someone who is, that you log onto www.deepdig.com and start sharing, exploring and developing what the site has to offer. If you are involved, or know anyone who is involved, in any broadcast media and think that your readers or listeners would be interested in DeepDig please feel free to tell them
about it and pass on our details to them.
