We arrived at Pacha for Dusted 2nd Birthday
at about 11.10pm and it was no surprise that
both paying
and guest list queues were packed as this night
is hugely popular amongst the clubbing community.
Dusted presented the night as "THE WHITE PARTY"
which of course meant you should have worn white
and I would say about 60% of the crowd had made
an effort to dress in white and in general the
whole crowd were extremely smartly dressed in
clubbing wear which was nice to see. If you
were dressed in white then you would have gained
entrance for £15 otherwise it cost £20, since
it was their second Birthday the
price had been put up by a fiver which was acceptable
due to extra cost for décor and DJ's.
We were welcomed by the promoters of the night
and given all access VIP passes which was very
nice of them indeed. On entering the club the
cloak room is directly to the left and it really
only took about five minutes to hand our coats
in. However, I was not happy that each item
I had to put into the cloak room had to go on
a different hanger, so I ended up with 5 tickets
which cost me £5, it should really have gone
on 2 hangers and cost £2. Its not the money
it's the point that I had just been ripped off,
come on Guys sort it out, still this is just
a minor point but does need to be addressed.
Directly in front of you are huge doors which
lead to the main dance floor where I entered
eagerly to
see what the night had to offer. I was really
surprised to see the main dance floor was already
half full,
even though it was only still 11.15pm and people
were already dancing to the sound of pure house
music,
I knew then that I had picked the right place
to come.
Hey, Dusted said they would transform this already
elegant venue into a spectacle of white and
they sure did not disappoint. It must have taken
a huge effect and great imagination to have
transformed the venue in keeping with their
theme "THE WHITE PARTY" so well done guys it
was spot on.
Directly above the main dance floor all round
the whole venue is the balcony area where people
were looking on down checking out the crowd
who were getting on down to the tunes. White
sheets were stretched from balcony to balcony
and in fact white sheets also covered all the
surrounding balconies
and walls. Above the DJ BOX was a Dusted logo
with another at the back of the dance floor
reminding
you who were putting on the night in case you
had forgotten.
To the right of the main room is the main bar
which was very crowed with people eager to buy
drinks which will back up the fact that 90%
of the crowd are on a drinking buzz so they
are no sweaty people at all.
I'm glad to report this as finally people are
really enjoying house music to the full without
any
chemical influence, and that's how it should
be.

All around in various places are platforms for
people to dance on, I think I counted 3 on the
main dance floor. One being directly in the
middle of the dance floor, another to the left
near the DJ BOX and
one right at the back of the dance floor, all
of which were full of people dancing.
After soaking in the atmosphere on the main
dance floor I decided to check out the Balcony
area,
the stairs which lead you there are directly
near the cloak room where the main entrance
is located.
As you enter up-stairs, directly in front of
you is another bar which I found a lot quicker
to get served,
two spirit mixers will set you back £9 which
is expected as club prices for drinks are always
more
than bars or pubs, as you well know.
There is a seating area near this main bar for
people to chill out, and if you walk round the
balcony it leads you to a smaller room with
a small dance floor and lovely sofas to sit
on which were so comfortable,
in fact all round the venue you will find these
sofas which I wish I could have taken home.
As you come out of this smaller room is the
VIP area, which has about six large Seating
areas
with tables which are low to the ground and
of course more of these Comfortable sofas
all around the table.
The VIP area is located on one of the balconies
you can see from the dance floor and every table
had
been taken which was no surprise. It may be
a bit of money to book a VIP table but the whole
balcony
was full of beautiful women really I was puzzled
to see so many, it was heaven.
Most,if not all, the people in the VIP area
were celebrating a special occasion and I would
recommend
to book a table as it is a very elegant part
of the club and does give you that
special feeling for that special occasion.

Looking down from any of the balcony areas you
will see the whole dance floor including the DJ
Box and all the platform areas. As I looked down
I had noticed the main dance floor was filling
by the minute so after spending about 15 minutes
I decided to head back downstairs to catch some
more of the atmosphere.
As I returned to the main dance floor it was by
now completely packed out with clubbers all getting
on down to a diverse quality of house music supplied
to us by DJ Lenny Fontana who had come all the
way from New York. I have to say I would love
to hear him DJ again, he totally created a most
amazing atmosphere which you could see by the
delight on everyone's faces, truly excellent house
music,
Respect! I did manage to have a quick chat with
him after he had come off and he recommended
that if you're ever in New York check out CLUB
Shelter, which is listed on this site at
Global Events/USA Events page 1.
Next up was the one and only Norman Jay, as he
performed his magic on the decks the tempo raised,
the crowds were in full swing, the whole place
was now in its element, uv lighting,
flashing lights, smoke machines pouring white
clouds every so often but gladly nothing too heavy,
and most importantly happy smiling clubbers united
under one House dancing the night away.
Throughout the night I found everyone really friendly,
especially the girls, yes there were stunning
women everywhere and of course there were enough
guys to chase them all night long. Stunning Guys?
Ask the girls as I never bothered looking at the
guys but am sure there must have been enough to
go round, check out the photos and see what you
think.
The Sound system was of course banging and crystal
clear as you would expect from Pacha and the
whole venue is excellent, very elegant and kept
clean all night, really you can see that a lot
of money
has been spent on the venue. I enjoyed myself
so much that I have already marked my calendar
for
the next Dusted@pacha on November 1st 2003 and
I don't often do that.
A quick note before I sign off, it has been some
12 or so years since I had returned to this venue,
the then SW1 Club with De Ja Vu the then promoters.
Ok I have shown my age but getting to the
point House music in London seemed to have vanished
from London Clubs as the new styles emerged
which everyone thought would replace house music.
Gladly it has finally come back in full force
in London Club land and Dusted are right up with
the best bunch of house music promoters. Let us
not forget
House music in 1988-1990 was huge before it suddenly
vanished but its now back bigger and better and
its still to peak so watch out London.
So guys (promoters) expect me to get on your case
next month for sure and thanks for giving
us such a cool night out as you are Serious house
music promoters!
