We
returned to pacha for Dusted once a month
party as we said we would, and
we were eager to see how the night would turn
out as tonight it was just a regular
party night with no theme or big time DJ's
around.
We arrived at just after 11pm and the queue
was building up by the minute, lucky the door
staff
were very efficient and were making sure people
gained entrance as quickly as possible which
was
good to see as the cold winter nights are
truly here.
Well by about 12.10am it was fairly packed
out with people getting on down on the main
dance floor
to really nice selection of house music nothing
to heavy as the night was still young so the
first DJ
was warming up the night in the right way,
just how we like it.
Next up was DJ MR. PINK who started to drop
more banging beats, nothing hard just a bit
more tempo which got the crowd really going.
Yer I really did like his selection of house
music and have to say
"Well Done" the whole place by now was truly
rocking to his selection of tunes.
Every one in the crowd was really friendly
and yet again there was stunning women letting
loose on the dance floor which was nicely
packed out as they is nothing worse then been
in a venue where there is no room to dance.
This of course is down to the Dusted promoters
who truly are concerned on how the night is
going as all night they were on their toes
making sure the night was going as planed,
well done Guys.
I did manage to have a chat with one of the
promoters up stairs who was looking on down
from one of the balconies as he was auditioning
2 exotic dancers who had everyone staring
at their saucy routine.
Hey I mentioned that it would be cool to see
a male dancer with them, maybe giving the
ladies
something to look at.
When I mentioned this to Paul he turned round
and said "Come on then" and he meant it.
Well the truth is if my back was not messed
up I would have loved to have joined in but
then again I think you would need someone
better looking to get the ladies going,
are there any male dancers out there? HA ha
Through out the night at various times there
were different dancers performing which did
add to the party atmosphere and sure did please
everyone in the crowd. All the staff were
helpful and the venue was kept clean all night
as through out the night staff made sure no
rubbish was on the dance floor,
which is expected as Pacha is one of London's
top venues.
Well I did really enjoy the whole night and
look forward to 2004 for more Dusted parties
as their parties
do create a perfect party atmosphere and I
will gladly be back for more to see what they
have
up their selves for the future.
Also watch out for next
month's party which is a theme Party called
" Heaven & Hell"
on the
6th December 2003. If dressed in theme attire
you will gain entrance for £15 other wise
it will cost £20,
so if your looking for a cool night out I
would certainly recommend this party without
any hesitation.
I did also manage to ask a few questions to
Paul about Dusted, you can check out the Interview
below,
and thanks for taking the time to answer all
the questions, as I know he was really busy
all night.
Interview Dusted Promoter
ANDY:
1. How
did you guys get together to create Dusted,
what inspired you?
PAUL: Dusted
was set up on the basis of the success we
saw at the Cross.
When the Cross was expanded into 2 rooms we
had to introduce a new music style as an alternative
to Trance what was being played in the main
room. It became so popular everyone hassled
us for months to set up a new night, which
was called Dusted.
ANDY: 2. Who
is the Biggest DJ to have played at your event?
PAUL: We've
had a few big guests at Dusted but we concentrate
more on in using
fresh faced talent. We find it always works
better with our crowd. They seem to
connect better with up and coming DJ's. Norman
Jay is one of our residents,
Lenny Fontana, Kenny Carpenter and Tim Deluxe
have all played Dusted.
ANDY:
3.
Do you think the house
music scene has got bigger since you started,
or is it on the decline?
PAUL:
It's hard to say. It's
been tough because when we set up Dusted it
was very fresh.
There weren't really many big funky house
nights around in London. Then all of a sudden,
we started getting really busy then a load
of funky house nights appeared from everywhere.
I think that has a lot to do with it now -
simply so much choice rather than the scene
being
on the decline. All of a sudden instead of
there being only one or two nights to go to,
there are about 50!
ANDY:
4.
Can you ever see house
music been replaced by another form of music
in
Club Land or is it really the music of the
future?
PAUL:
No way, House music
has been around from year dot. Trance,
Hard House, Electro, Garage has all come from
House routes. It will never go away.
The music is universal anyway, everyone likes
it!
Even my Mum loves my mix CD's...
ANDY:
5.
What has been your most
favorite night at Pacha?
PAUL:
Without question, our
Carnival party last year.
The vibe was amazing! The club was full from
9pm until 6am, everyone came
straight from Notting Hill to carry on the
party.
Everyone who was there still talks about it
today!
ANDY:
5.
What do you think 2004
holds for house music?
PAUL:
I
think it will be another big year. There are
lots of fresh DJ's / producers coming
through who are very exciting. It's well needed
as well, people have been a bit
sick of seeing the same old faces doing the
same old thing for years...
ANDY:
6. Who
is you main resident DJ at Dusted?
PAUL:
2Funky.
ANDY:
7.
How many resident DJ's
does Dusted have?
PAUL:
2, 2Funky plays every month and Norman plays
every other month.
ANDY:
8.
Do you think house music
is bigger outside London and has it
truly come back to London?
PAUL:
It's difficult to say really. A while ago,
I would of said it's bigger up north
but it seems to have levelled out now. Although
you go to some clubs in London
(apart from Dusted) and the atmosphere just
doesn't seem to be there,
up North you can always guarantee it.
ANDY:
9.
Do you think that they
are two many house music promoters
right now or is there room for more?
PAUL:
Very much so. In a way it's a shame because
lot's of big promoters have
gone under simply because there's so much
competition.
On the other hand, to me, I look at it as
a good thing, coz it keeps me on my toes!!!
ANDY:
10.
What
does 2004 hold for Dusted?
Next year we are going
to concentrate on revitalizing the London
club scene.
I can't say too much but look out for wild
parties in random places like prisons,
dungeons, bridges and
train stations... should be good fun...
