Going
Places... Adventures in International House
Music returns to Turnmills this Friday and
we're still feeling pretty smug after last
month's guest Glasse from Poland proved
to be one of our best discoveries. Don't
be surprised if you see him back sometime
in 2004.
This month we're moving a little closer
to home with Greg M from France making the
short trip across the English Channel to
join the party. Everybody knows all about
the famous DJs coming out of Paris but here
at Going Places it's our policy to look
a little deeper and that's how we discovered
Greg. Based in the northern French city
of Metz, he’s played with many of Europe's
top DJs over the last few years as well
as running his own parties and working with
the Warehouse Records crew (check out www.warehouse-records.com)
Reflecting the city he comes from, Greg's
sound has more grit and is a bit rougher
round the edges than his Parisian counterparts
- just the way we like it! He adds influences
from tech house, electro and techno to his
dirty but still funky grooves and you can
expect to hear some proper underground house
music aimed firmly at the dancefloor when
Greg takes to the decks. Setting the pace
will be our very own resident Tania von
Pear who is earning quite a reputation for
herself with her trademark house sound with
a smattering of breaks thrown in. Rounding
off the night, meanwhile, will be the inimitable
Marc Houlihan, one of hottest house DJs
around town and a man who knows all about
rockin' a party. Trust us, when we say this
boy has some tricks up his sleeve to round
the night off with a bang. It should be
a good one and no mistake.
What's more this month we welcome Mula who
will be performing live on stage. We will
be having a live act at Going Places every
month from now on and this three-piece band
should kick things off nicely. Part of Brighton's
Stomphaphunk crew, their sound has been
described as 'rockin' ecstasy pop for the
new chemical generation'. You have been
warned!
Getting things started will be young guns
Sublime Soul, while the Gallery's main room
line-up
is pretty damn impressive too with special
guests Judge Jules and Dave Seaman joining
Paul Richards, Gavyn Mytchel and Matt Black.
Over in the theatre and cabaret lounge,
meanwhile,
the Hoola Honeys will be centre stage.
All Movin' House people can also take advantage
of concessionary admission of £12 (normally
£15) and guest list queuing before 11:30pm,
so come down early and get stuck in! For
details call Matthew on 07957 112723 or
