 HONEYTRAP FRIDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 2003
Honeytrap will be pulling out all the stops this month to welcome our first overseas guest, Chris Udoh. Currently residing in Philadelphia USA, Chris is no stranger to the UK tech-house scene, having previously held a two-year residency at Fabric (with Deep C).

This time he will be visiting our shores for just long enough to play an exclusive set at Honeytrap. Chris Udoh began DJing professionally in 1985 at the age of 16 in St. Louis, Missouri. He played at various clubs and his music was used as the soundtrack for many of the region’s top fashion shows.

In 1989 Chris moved to Atlanta, Georgia and was given a residency at the legendary Loretta’s nightclub, where he perfected his mixing skills four nights a week, often playing for up to seven hours a night. During his residency Chris attracted a wider audience to Loretta’s, playing music that transcended the club’s mainly black, gay, male demographic.

Soon he began getting offers to play in almost every club in the city. In 1992 Chris met Chris Clarke (aka Deep C) in a record store and the two quickly became friends. Along with producer Chris Brann they went on to form Wamdue Kids, playing gigs in clubs and on the rave circuit.

Wamdue Kids had a number of successful releases on such notable labels as Acacia, Studio K7!, Sounds, Guidance and Strictly Rhythm. In 1996 Chris moved to Philadelphia and rapidly became one of the city’s most respected DJs. 2000 saw the formation of Tigerhook Corp - a Wu-Tang type collective of like-minded DJ’s and producers.
Spearheaded by the highly energetic Randal Jones, this crew of nine has had releases on prestigious labels including Hooj Choons, Saw, Shaboom and End Recordings.
Deep C and Udoh have toured the globe extensively and also held a two-year residency at London’s Fabric nightclub from 2000 to 2002. In 2003 Chris has taken some time out to concentrate on his solo productions, as well as collaborations with other electronic dance music artists.

This month’s party also sees the welcome return of regular Honeytrap guests, Daren and Spencer. The Heroine boys are always sure to get the crowd shaking their booties and sploshing beer all over themselves in the process. Residents JB and Ellis will also be on hand to do the warm-up honours for Chris in the main room. As ever, state-of-the-art live club visuals will be laid on courtesy of our friends at Nuroptics.
