It's
a rare occasion that Danny Howells plays a mid-weeker
in London, so no surprise then that before long
West Central Street resembled a road block as
people gathered out side AKA, waiting to begin
a much needed Wednesday tonic. Danny was booked
to be on deck duties all night and play amongst
things, a special extended 'Choice' set of classics.
His Choice album came out on Azuli this month
and has received rave reviews (no pun intended)
from all corners,
so a good party it seemed was in order.
The choice collections are fast becoming a who's
who of influential figures. With legendary artists
such as Jeff Mills, Louie Vega, Derrick Carter,
Francois Kervorkian, Tony Humphries, Danny Tenaglia,
X-Press 2 and Frankie Knuckles hosting previous
releases it is just a matter of time before
your own personal hero gets this unique opportunity
to really communicate their own musical history.
That's if they haven't stepped up already of course?
The Choice releases also include the compiler's
own exclusive re-edits that will only ever feature
on these albums.
Danny gave some of his Choice edits an airing
on the night, much to the crowds delight! In true
Danny fashion he played with energy and heart,
things soon got out of hand as everyone forgot
there was still two days of work left.
See below for a pictorial of the night…
Other gigs include Rust in Glasgow on February
5th and
Lamp in Hull on February 18th. There is still
one to come on March 12th at Tokyo, Newcastle.
Get your dancing shoes
on and get down there!
