We
arrived at the Glasshouse at about 12 and on reaching
the door we were welcomed by the door men who were extremely
polite and very helpful, I would really like to point
out that to be welcomed like this by doormen is not
a common practice. The way they conducted themselves
was totally professional, and that's the way it should
be, considering they didn't know I was
there to review the night.
So after having a good old chat with all the staff on
the door we made our way up some stairs that lead to
the first floor of the Glasshouse, we handed in our
coats and headed straight for the bar. The first floor
was packed out so I was really surprised to have got
served so quickly, in fact I began to realise that everyone
who works for the Glasshouse was actually awake and
doing their jobs properly. I have been to a lot of clubs
and hate waiting to be served because someone behind
the bar is catching up with all the gossip or is just
making sure they avoid making eyecontact with you, well
none of this tonight.
On the first floor the music being played was US Vocal
House, the DJ I heard while I was on this floor was
DJ Mcgee and he did not disappoint, the music was spot
on, really cool! Certainly a DJ too watch out for. Sorry
to all the other DJ's that played on this floor but
I can only mention the
DJ that I actually heard play but I am sure they must
be all as equally as good.
After spending about 45 minutes on the first floor I
was eager to find out what the second floor had to offer,
so I headed up some stairs which lead me to the second
floor. On the second floor I found two more bars which
are situated at opposite ends of each other with the
dance floor being in the middle. I could not help noticing
one of the Smartie Partie Dancers who had all the guys
looking at her in amazement, her tasty dance routine
certainly added to the atmosphere and got everyone going.
At one point some girls from the crowd even joined her
which showed it was all good fun.
The music on this floor was old school with club classics.
I just have to say I preferred the music on this floor
for the simple fact that I do prefer House music to
Garage, just my taste. I really did think the music
was actually taking you on a journey so respect to DJ
Adam Avit with supplying us with excellent House music.
I was really shocked when at about 2.30am the music
suddenly changed to really banging hard house, I found
out this was due to the fact that the DJ had changed.
To tell the truth it did upset the flow of the music,
I would not be surprised if this DJ actually does not
play at this event ever again since it really wasn't
the appropriate time to play that style of music.
The reason why I am being so harsh is the fact that
the DJ got replaced at 3am so this does back up my statement
that he totally got it wrong! Well I do hope he has
learned from his mistake,
I do wonder if he will be playing there again?
I would like to point out to all the people coming from
abroad visiting London that they should get themselves
down to the Glasshouse as it has a hidden bonus in the
fact that it has got a stunning view over looking the
River Thames, one whole side of the venue is made up
of huge glass windows.
Hence the name "The Glasshouse"
All in all it was a cool night and on leaving the club
I have to say the door staff made sure that we got into
a licensed cab as London does have a bit of a problem
with Unlicensed cabs. Why have I pointed this out? The
fact being I would feel reassured that even if my sister
was there at the end of night I would be confident she
would be in safe hands. Rather than getting in some
dodgy cab where anything could happen. I think this
policy should be included at more venues and bars.
