New
York legend Joe Claussell stops off in London
this weekend (5th and 6th June)
for a two date special at East London's monument
to sound, Plastic People.

As a DJ, Producer, Remixer, Label-Head (Spiritual
Life Music and Ibadan), and record-shop owner
(Dance Tracks) Joe has always kept in the forefront
of the NY house scene, as a DJ he has always inspired
it. When long time friend François K invited him
to join Danny Krivit and him for a Sunday session
at Body and Soul it quickly became a night famous
around the globe still inspiring
and capturing a unique driving Deep House sound.
Launched in 1996 - Spiritual Life Music has released
tracks from a host of New York Nu-House teams
including Claussell himself, Mateo & Matos, Blaze,
Slam Mode and frequent production partner Jephte
Guillaume. Spiritual Life soon became the home
for productions embracing all forms of Groove
music from the past few decades, as comfortable
working through Caribbean Folk and Salsa Rhythms
as the expected Deep House. He also formed a second
label Ibadan on which he
has released many of his own tracks including
the 1997 Brazilian House track "Escravos de Joe.
" His productions are often mirror his eclectic
styles of music, dropping in plenty of acoustic
instruments and rich percussion patterns and his
the rare London
performance should not be missed.
