A
BBC Radio 1 Essential
Mix is one of the highest
honours that can be
given to any DJ, recognising
them as a leader in
their field and sharing
the magic they produce
on the turntables with
millions round the globe.
In the past two years
Eddie Halliwell has
already completed two
Essential Mixes and
come Saturday 7th August
he will feature again
at the
BBC Radio 1 in Ibiza
Weekend.
An annual highlight
of the schedule, this
year Radio 1 in Ibiza
runs Thursday 5th -
Sunday 8th August. It
sees the station's weekend
schedule completely
turned over to dance
music with shows transmitted
live from the White
Isle. As ever the highlight
is a specially extended
5 hour Essential Mix,
which is being broadcast
from the world renowned
Cream
at Amnesia
in front of over 5000
clubbers.
This marks Eddie's first
"official duties" as
a new Radio
1 Resident
and alongside him are
three other high flyers:
original Cream resident
and the man the Guinness
Book of Records lists
as "The World's Biggest
DJ", Paul Oakenfold;
ex-Radio 1 stalwart
and promoter of top
London night "Type",
Seb Fontaine;
and exciting young house
impresario Nic Fanculli,
who has also been handed
the Radio 1 Resident
mantle.
This caps a huge 12
months which has seen
Eddie winning "Mixmag
DJ of the Year 2003";
being voted 20th best
DJ in the world in the
official DJ Mag Top
100 Poll; and racking
up air miles playing
gigs in Australia, Canada,
Egypt, Ibiza, Japan,
Russia, Taiwan and the
USA to name but a few!
Extended Essential
Mix: This Saturday Night
/
Sunday Morning 0.00
- 5.00
If your weekend activities
will prevent you listening
to the mix live you
will be able to "Listen
Again" on the Radio
1 website
during the following
week.
