Tonight
we were invited for the launch night of
TWISTED LOVE @NEIGHBOURHOOD
a
new night with a new concept of playing
all music genres, yes that's right all
music
genres from Funk, disco, soul house etc...
We decided to take the train as we were
all up for a good old drink, so we landed
outside Westbourne Park station as there's
a cool Pub were we started our night before
heading
down to Neighborhood which is only a five
minute walk away which is very handy.
A lot of web sites state that if you travel
by tube to get out at Labbroke Grove,
well if you
like walking then get out there if your
not into walking you will be better of
getting out
at Westourne Park Station as it is a shorter
walk.
As we approached Neighbourhood I was surprised
to see a large orderly crowd, as I did
expect everyone to be inside since it
was near 11.30pm, well that just shows
how popular
the night was. It was good to see the
Security & PR Staff had everyone in an
orderly
queue and been as helpful as possible.
As you enter Neighbourhood you will find
the cloakroom right in front of you. We
then entered through the main doors, which
lead to the main bar & dance floor.
We were just in time to catch Norman
Jay playing a diverse selection
of music and we had
heard a few whispers in the Crowd as to
what time Norman was on so clearly people
had come down to catch him on the decks.
You would have had to arrive early to
catch him as he
was playing an early set due to been in
high demand.
Getting a drink at the bar was no problem
as all the bar staff were working at a
100 miles
an hour to keep down the queues. The bar
was packed out with people wanting a drink,
so well done to the bar staff for working
so hard; maybe you guys deserve a pay
rise?
I looked at my watch and realized it was
only still 11.45 and yet the dance floor
was already
half packed with people letting loose
to this Variety of musical flavors which
was going
down well with the crowd.
On looking around it dawned on me that
the atmosphere was more like a party atmosphere
you would get at a party been thrown in
a house, people really were just really
having
a good old laugh. Of course this was purely
down to the music been played so the DJ's
had achieved what the night was all about,
creating a party atmosphere.
I think part of the crowd did not know
Twisted Love was about playing all kinds
of music from
disco to funk to soul, hip hop, house
etc. I noticed a number of people going
up to the DJ's and asking for house music
which is music to my ears but really you
should never bother a DJ when he's playing
its really is not cool to do so. DJ's
can only bring 100-150 records at one
time,
so what chance have they got when someone
from the crowd asked for a certain record,
no chance so LEAVE THE DJ ALONE they really
are doing their best to please the crowd.
The crowd really did enjoy this concept,
as there was a great deal of flirting
going on the
dance floor which was all in good fun.
It was also good to see a good Variety
of age groups
in the crowd who were all dressed exactly
how they wanted as they is no dress code,
and that's how it should be.
At about 12.45pm I made my way upstairs,
which will lead you to the surrounding
balcony,
and on looking down onto the dance floor
I noticed it was now completely packed
out with people dancing. If you have come
up stairs to chill out for a while then
you will find seating all round the balcony
area with a bar located at one end.
At 1pm DJ Gareth
Watkins (of Funkt-if-ino) & Paul Kelly
graced the decks and played
a great Variety of house music, to finish
the night off with a bang.
The next Twisted Love is on the 27th February
and I have already told people I know
to get themselves down there, as the night
was pure class. Remember its all about
playing
all kinds of music so if that's what you
want then watch out for TWISTED
LOVE.
